Abstract
In this work we present the R&D&I project which we are carrying out to transform the Comprehensive Sports Programme at School Age in the city of Segovia (PIDECS). During 2009 we carried out the phase of diagnosing the initial situation and during the academic year 2009-2010 we put the intervention phase into effect. The City Hall considered it necessary to have a diagnosis of the current sports situation at school age to prepare a programme ensuring regular healthy physical activity and a correct introduction to multi-sports. In this work some conclusions from the diagnosis phase are presented, obtained through the following techniques: questionnaires, discussion groups and in-depth interviews. Among the conclusions we found some positive aspects, such as the high degree of agreement among all the populations on basic questions of school sport (coordination with
the teaching staff in PE, the need for better training and professionalism in sports techniques, the need for better regulation of sports competitions, avoiding too early specialization, etc.). Aspects for improvement were also found, for which a solution has been sought through the planning and development of the comprehensive school sports programme.
