Goal orientation and motivational climate, achievement motivation, success attribution and enjoyment in an individual sport

Abstract
In this study relationships among motivational orientation and different aspects of sports practice were analyzed in four competition-level karate clubs. Questionnaires were answered by 49 boys and girls involved in karate. Results showed relationships among goals orientation and the following factors: perceived motivational climate in their environment, perception of ability, success attributions in sport, sports practice enjoyment, learning commitment and dedication, and anxiety related to error and stress situations.
Ego orientation correlated with ego perceived motivational climate in parents, trainer and partners; with a higher perception of ability; with normative ability and deceit as way to achieve success in sport, and with boredom.
Task orientation correlated with motivation-effort in order to achieve success, with sports practice enjoyment, anxiety over stressful situations and with a lower learning commitment and dedication.
