Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of work on movement technique with and without uphill running training on the capacity for general and specific movements and on the jumping ability of volleyball players in training. The sample was 36 volleyball players (group A was made up of 18 men players, and groups B and C by nine women players in each one). A quasi-experimental inter-subject design with pre-test, post-test and re-test was done. The independent variable was the type of work done to improve movement (nine sessions). There were two areas: a) specific movement technique work (groups A and B), and b) movement technique and uphill running strength work (group C). The dependent variables were: technique and movement time in blocking and court defence, time taken in the 9-3-3-9 test, and the height reached in jumping with and without a run up. The work on movement technique improved the quality of specific movements. In the men, the work on movement technique improved general and specific movement times. In the women, the work on movement technique did not improve general and specific movement times. In the women, the work on movement technique with uphill running work appeared to improve general and specific movement times. The work on movement technique with and without uphill running training did not improve the players’ jumping ability.
