Abstract
This article presents a study referring to bibliographical and documentary foundations of historical studies of physical activity and sport in Spain during the period 1800 to 1939. It includes descriptions of the most important bibliographical sources or catalogues, as well as systematic classification of the historical documents located together with a chronological statistical analysis.
We hope that this will provide a basic thematical catalogue that might serve as a guide for better localisation and recovery of relevant documental sources for future historical studies.
