Abstract
The objective of this work is to ergonomically analyze the discipline of shot put in the adapted sport, specifically when it is done on a chair or bench. The method used in this study is known as Ergonomic Analysis of Work (EAW), and its focus is on the phases of demand, task and activity. For this purpose, photographic records were made showing various athletes of both sexes in a sitting position, 20 in the context of the analysis of the demand and 25 in the analysis of the task. In the analysis of the activity, the research focused on 5 male athletes from different countries with an average age of 30 (in particular, 20, 27, 30, 31 and 48 years old, respectively). They all had motor functional diversity of the lower limbs and the same functional sports classification. The results obtained confirm that throwing chairs are not designed according to the particularities of their users, and that there is a relationship between ergonomic risks, competitive postures and athletes’ performance. Likewise, the analysis shows how the harmful effects for health, safety, comfort and sports performance impact athletes who use a sitting position in competition.
