Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the importance of physical self-concept and self-efficacy in predicting the overall behaviour of physical practice in a sample of adolescents. The number of participants is 1588, all of them from Málaga (Spain), aged between 14 and 16 years (M = 15.11, SD = 0.78). This is a cross-sectional study in which the survey is used to obtain the data. In addition to collecting information on physical activity and sport and gender, different tools were used to measure the constructs under study, such as a physical self-concept Questionnaire (CAF) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (EAG). The binary logistic regression analysis carried out indicates that both constructs significantly predict the behaviour of physical exercise for the whole sample, given that the model includes dimensions such as fitness, physical ability and strength, and overall self-efficacy. However, when analysed according to gender, the perception of overall effectiveness is also excluded in the case of girls.
