Abstract
Areas of Knowledge play an important role in the administrative regulation of knowledge. Nevertheless, they are not always clearly defined in terms of scientifc outcomes. The aim of this work is to analyse characteristics of research within the Area of Didactics of Body Expression. For that purpose, the content of 650 papers presented to the Congress of Teaching Training Schools and Faculties of Education within the period 1990-2000 is analysed. Categorial content analysis takes into account research strategies as well as procedures of collecting and analysing data The increasing of the production contrasts with the stagnation of research works. Based in techno-efficient model, research works are referred mainly to Teacher Training and Curriculum Interaction. Nevertheless, emergence of mediational and socio-cultural models is observed in last editions. These results show that the Area of Didactics of Body Expression is in a transitional or critical period, characterized by an increasing number of works and coexisting subjects, models and strategies of research.
